529 DAY IN NEVADA

WHEREAS, the office of the Nevada State Treasurer is committed to educating families on the value of 529 accounts as an instrument for planning, paying, and saving for their children's futures; and;

WHEREAS, building on the core values of family, community engagement, and building a strong Nevada, the College Savings Division of the Nevada Treasurer's Office works closely with Nevada residents to facilitate fiscal health and generational success; and;

WHEREAS, Nevada established the Nevada Prepaid Tuition Program in 1998, enrolling over 23,000 students and paying over $1.3 million in tuition since inception; and;

WHEREAS, Nevada ensured the opportunity for higher education by establishing the Governor Guinn Millennium Scholarship Program which has assisted in funding the in-state college education of 159,803 exceptional students; and;

WHEREAS, by investing $50 to 529 accounts for over 344,000 of Nevada's kindergarteners, the state has demonstrated its dedication to our youth and their education; and;

WHEREAS, the Silver State has upped the stakes with the March Matchness program, investing over $1.4 million along with Nevada families; and;

WHEREAS, ever increasing costs create challenges for families, 529 Plans make affordable post-secondary education a reality, ensuring a bright future for all Nevadans;

NOW, THEREFORE, I, JOE LOMBARDO, GOVERNOR OF THE STATE OF NEVADA, do hereby proclaim May 29, 2023 as

529 DAY IN NEVADA
