A Day in Honor of Lieutenant Kevin Kelley
WHEREAS, Lieutenant Kevin Kelley began his 26-year law enforcement career in 1999 as an officer with the Nevada Parole and Probation; and;
WHEREAS, in 2002, Lieutenant Kelley transferred to the Office of Attorney General as an investigator in the Bureau of Consumer Protection; and;
WHEREAS, in 2004, Lieutenant Kelley transferred to the Nevada Highway Patrol as a patrol officer; and;
WHEREAS, in 2008, Lieutenant Kelley was promoted to the rank of Sergeant and oversaw the Office of Professional Responsibility, traffic operation, and interdiction; and;
WHEREAS, upon his promotion in Parole and Probation, Lieutenant Kelley oversaw General Supervision and was the Executive Officer for Command; and;
WHEREAS, in 2024, Lieutenant Kelley transferred back to Nevada Highway Patrol, overseeing the Tourism Corridor, Interdiction, and Problem Solving Unit/Motors; and;
WHEREAS, Lieutenant Kelley dedicated a large portion of his career to keeping Nevada's roads safer through proactive enforcement, detection and apprehension of impaired drivers. Lieutenant Kelley kept Nevada citizens and visitors safer through his supervision of dangerous offenders and his thorough investigations of crimes against Nevada's citizens; and;
WHEREAS, on January 13, 2026, Lieutenant Kelley will officially retire with over 26 years of dedicated and professional service in law enforcement, concluding his distinguished career as Lieutenant with the Nevada Highway Patrol; and;
WHEREAS, on behalf of all Nevadans, we extend to Lieutenant Kevin Kelley our sincere thanks and gratitude for his 26 years of professional excellence and loyal service to the State of Nevada;
NOW, THEREFORE, I, JOE LOMBARDO, GOVERNOR OF THE STATE OF NEVADA, do hereby proclaim January 13, 2026, as a day in honor of
