Archeological Awareness and Historic Preservation Month in Nevada

State of Nevada, Executive Department- A proclamation by the governor

WHEREAS, historic preservation is a tool for managing growth and sustainable development, revitalizing neighborhoods, fostering local pride, and maintaining community character while enhancing livability; and;

WHEREAS, historic preservation is relevant for communities across the nation, both urban and rural, and for Americans of all ages, all walks of life and all ethnic backgrounds; and;

WHEREAS, it is important to celebrate the role of history in our lives and the contributions made by individuals in helping to preserve the tangible aspects of the heritage that has shaped us as a people; and;

WHEREAS, the State of Nevada is home to many sites, both urban and rural that are rich in culture and archeological discoveries, and many are listed on the National Register of Historic Places; and;

WHEREAS, May has been recognized as a month to celebrate historic preservation and archeology in the Silver State, and agencies and community organizations have worked to spread awareness of efforts throughout the state, encouraging residents and visitors to explore and learn about Nevada’s significant archeological and historic treasures;

NOW, THEREFORE, I, JOE LOMBARDO, GOVERNOR OF THE STATE OF NEVADA, do hereby proclaim May 2025 as

ARCHEOLOGICAL AWARENESS AND HISTORIC PRESERVATION MONTH IN NEVADA
