CARIBBEAN-AMERICAN HERITAGE MONTH IN NEVADA

WHEREAS, the State of Nevada acknowledges the vibrant cultural heritage and significant contributions of the Caribbean-American community to our state and nation; and;

WHEREAS, Caribbean-Americans have enriched the cultural tapestry of Nevada with their traditions, music, cuisine, and diverse perspectives, contributing to the cultural mosaic that defines our state; and;

WHEREAS, Caribbean-Americans have made enduring contributions to various fields including arts, literature, sports, science, politics, and entrepreneurship, inspiring future generations and leaving an indelible mark on our society; and;

WHEREAS, June is recognized nationwide as Caribbean-American Heritage Month, providing an opportunity for all Nevadans to celebrate the rich legacy and achievements of Caribbean- Americans, and to honor their resilience, creativity, and determination in the face of adversity; and;

WHEREAS, by commemorating Caribbean-American Heritage Month, we reaffirm our commitment to fostering cultural understanding and recognizing the valuable contributions of Caribbean-Americans to the social, economic, and cultural fabric of Nevada and the United States; and;

WHEREAS, the State of Nevada joins our Caribbean-American population in celebrating the legacy and essential contributions of Caribbean-Americans who have added so much to our state and nation;

NOW, THEREFORE, I, JOE LOMBARDO, GOVERNOR OF THE STATE OF NEVADA, do hereby proclaim the month of June 2024 as

CARIBBEAN-AMERICAN HERITAGE MONTH IN NEVADA

IN WITNESS WHEREOF, I have hereunto set my hand and caused the Great Seal of the State of Nevada to be affixed at the State Capitol in Carson City, this 31st Day of May, 2024 Signatures of Governor Lombardo, Secretary of State Francisco V. Aguilar and Deputy Rachel Bennett
