Day in Honor of Captain Scott Stuenkel

State of Nevada, Executive Department- A proclamation by the governor

WHEREAS, Captain Scott Stuenkel began his 25-year law enforcement career in 2000 as a state trooper with the Nevada Highway Patrol. During that time, he was assigned to traffic operations, the motors unit, and the Crash Investigation Detail; and;

WHEREAS, during Captain Stuenkel's sergeant rank, he was assigned to graveyard and dayshift traffic operations, and later oversaw the Crash Investigation Detail; and;

WHEREAS, in 2016, Captain Stuenkel was promoted to the rank of lieutenant and oversaw commercial operations in Southern Command; and;

WHEREAS, upon his promotion to captain on March 12, 2018, Captain Stuenkel was assigned to administrative services, rural operations, Las Vegas tourism, and commercial operations; and;

WHEREAS, on March 29, 2021, Captain Stuenkel transferred to the Department of Public Safety Training Division, where he served as the Divisions chief. He managed all the Department's academy operations, training, and staff including cadets, corporals, sergeants, and lieutenant; and;

WHEREAS, since 2001, Captain Scott Stuenkel has been a dedicated member of the Department of Public Safety's Honor Guard. He was named the Commander of the Honor Guard in 2018 and has remained the commander since; and;

WHEREAS, on May 4, 2025, Captain Stuenkel will officially retire with 25 years of dedicated and professional service in law enforcement, concluding a distinguished career as captain with Nevada State Police; and;

WHEREAS, on behalf of all Nevadans, we extend to Captain Scott Stuenkel our sincere thanks and gratitude for his 25 years of professional excellence and loyal service to the State of Nevada. We extend our best wishes for a happy and fulfilling retirement;

NOW, THEREFORE, I, JOE LOMBARDO, GOVERNOR OF THE STATE OF NEVADA, do hereby proclaim May 4, 2025, as a day in honor of

CAPTAIN SCOTT STUENKEL
