HOMELESS YOUTH AWARENESS WEEK IN NEVADA

November 1–8, 2024 • 12:00 AM - 12:00 AM PT

WHEREAS, homelessness is a critical issue affecting communities across Nevada with a significant number of youths experiencing the harsh realities of living without stable and secure housing; and;

WHEREAS, young people who are homeless face unique challenges that impact their physical and mental health, educational opportunities, and overall well-being, necessitating targeted support and intervention; and;

WHEREAS, the state of Nevada recognizes the importance of raising awareness about the plight of homeless youth to foster a more informed and compassionate public, and to encourage collaborative efforts to address and alleviate the issue; and;

WHEREAS, local organizations, schools, and community groups play a vital role in providing essential services and support to homeless youth, including shelter, food, counseling, and educational assistance; and;

WHEREAS, it is essential to promote policies and programs that ensure homeless youth have access to necessary resources and opportunities to build a better future for themselves; and;

WHEREAS, by designating a specific week to highlight the struggles of homeless youth, we aim to galvanize community action, enhance public understanding, and inspire more effective solutions to end youth homelessness in Nevada;

NOW, THEREFORE, I, JOE LOMBARDO, GOVERNOR OF THE STATE OF NEVADA, do hereby proclaim November 1 - 7, 2024, as

HOMELESS YOUTH AWARENESS WEEK IN NEVADA
