Persian Nowruz Day in Nevada

State of Nevada, Executive Department- A proclamation by the governor

WHEREAS, Nowruz (N-O-W-R-U-Z), meaning "new day," is the traditional Persian New Year marking the first day of spring and has been celebrated for more than 3,000 years; and;

WHEREAS, Nowruz is observed by millions of people around the world and symbolizes renewal, hope, compassion, and the triumph of light over darkness; and;

WHEREAS, the celebration of Nowruz promotes values of peace, family unity, cultural understanding, and goodwill among all people; and;

WHEREAS, recognizing Persian Nowruz Day provides an opportunity to honor the rich heritage of one of the world's oldest civilizations and to celebrate the spirit of new beginnings shared by all Nevadans;

NOW, THEREFORE, I, JOE LOMBARDO, GOVERNOR OF THE STATE OF NEVADA, do hereby proclaim March 20, 2026, as

PERSIAN NOWRUZ DAY IN NEVADA
