U.S. Armed Forces Week in Nevada

State of Nevada, Executive Department- A proclamation by the governor

WHEREAS, each year we pay tribute and celebrate the men and women who make our military the greatest fighting force in the world by designating the third Saturday of each May as Armed Forces Day; and;

WHEREAS, Armed Forces Day celebrates members of our military recognizing these men and women serve with honor and distinction while acknowledging their service and sacrifice preserves our Nation’s freedom and our way of life; and;

WHEREAS, this day recognizes and celebrates all U.S. military branches of service including the Army, Navy, Air Force, Space Force, Marine Corps and Coast Guard; and;

WHEREAS, the great State of Nevada shows its appreciation by encouraging all to display the flag of the United States at their home or place of business and to participate in local U.S. Armed Forces observances; and;

WHEREAS, to increase public understanding and appreciation of our military, the State of Nevada shall elevate the one-day commemoration to a weeklong celebration beginning the Monday prior to the day of recognition which falls on May 17th this year and ending the Sunday after;

NOW, THEREFORE, I, JOE LOMBARDO, GOVERNOR OF THE STATE OF NEVADA, do hereby proclaim the week of May 12 - May 18, 2025, as
